SiteWorks

Call for Performance Proposals:

Stipends will be awarded for site-specific dance performances for SiteWorks, a summer outdoor festival of site-specific dance performances created for the plaza spaces of the Museum of Glass in Tacoma. SiteWorks will be performed free of charge on consecutive weekends: July 8, 9, 15, 16th; Sundays at 3:30pm Saturdays at 5:00pm and Third Thursday Art Walk, July 20 at 8:00pm. Availability for all performances is preferable though there may be some flexibility in programming.

Successful proposals will be specific to each site, taking into consideration the various audience locations.

Proposals will include:

  • (3 copies) Narrative (10 font min., 1 page max.);
  • (3 copies) Resume of Choreographer and/or company (10 font min., 5 page max.);
  • (1) VHS or DVD documenting past work cued where viewing should start. Panelists will view a minimum of one minute, maximum eight minutes;
  • (3 copies) Explanation of documentation video (10 font min, 1 page max.);
  • (1) publicity photo of choreographer and/or performing company: .jpg format, minimum 6"X4" 300dpi. Submit a CD with clearly named file
    e.g. SW_YourName.jpg.

All submitted proposal items must clearly identify the submitter's name and the function of the item (narrative, explanation of video, etc.). Incomplete proposals will not be considered. Additional, unrequested materials will be discarded.

Narratives should be no more than one page with font no smaller than 10 and include the following:

  • Brief bios of the choreographer and performing group;
  • A list identifying selected site, number of performers, costumes, props, duration, accompaniment, availability/conflicts for scheduled performances, and technical requirements (please note that this is an outdoor performance festival, there will be very limited technical support available);
  • Detailed description of proposed performance;
  • Availability for performance dates.

Proposals are due 6:00 PM Tuesday, May 9, 2006 at Barefoot Studios, 311 Puyallup Avenue, Tacoma, WA 98421. Please note: This is a due date, postmarks do not qualify. Proposals/applications sent via email will not be considered.

Clearly identify any and all materials you wish to have returned. Enclose self-addressed envelope with proper postage or indicate that you wish to retrieve materials at Barefoot Studios. All unclaimed materials will be disposed after July 20, 2006.
